Work in similar conditions to slavery in Brazil: A historical analysis and challenges in the fight against violation of fundamental rights

Abstract

Constantly the issue of slave labor reappears in the Brazilian legal scenario and is analyzed from recent cases of rescued people living and working in slavery conditions due to the great economic influence that it represents. Because of this controversy we seek to maintain strict supervision and increasingly stringent sanctions to combat this form of exploitation, trying to make people aware of the seriousness of this conduct. (Objectives) Objective of this research: to demonstrate how slavery changed the human history, and how that exploration was kept alive in recent years and can be found today, even after more than 100 years of the abolition of slavery in Brazil. (Methodology) The study was based on the literature, which is the analysis of the legislation, doctrine and legal articles, using the deductive method, part of the more general statements apply to particular conclusions, explanatory deductions. (Conclusion) What is sought with the fight against slave labor is primarily the protection of fundamental human rights guaranteed by the 1988 Constitution to the workers to ensure a modicum of dignity to practice and develop their work without being subjected to degrading and poor conditions as it is in many cases supervised by the Ministry of Labor and Employment.
