Abstract

This investigation seeks to determine and to present the level of political culture in the municipalities of the metropolitan area of Valle de Aburrá. Starting from the conceptions presented by Almond and Verba it is intended to discern what type of perceptions concerning the politician and public thing exist among citizens and candidates to public positions of popular election. From the results obtained in the investigation it will be determined if the perceptions with regard to the State are of parochial, subject or participant character and it will be established, likewise, in what level or to what degree the civic participation is understood as mechanism of exercise of the political power.

This investigation is ahead in order to contributing to the discussion about structural situations of the Colombian democracy.
