This research addresses contemporary migration, focusing on the Mexican case and, specifically, migration to the United States. Examines the economic and sociocultural motivations behind this phenomenon, highlighting the influence of demographic, political, social and economic factors. The decrease in Mexican migration to the United States in recent years is highlighted, attributed to changes in immigration policies, economic stability in Mexico and the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, the impact of remittances on the Mexican economy is analyzed, pointing out a constant increase, even in times of crisis. The study is expanded to examine migration in the state of Michoacán and specifically in Jiquilpan de Juárez, providing detailed data on migratory flow and remittances in these areas. In conclusion, the complexity of migration and the need to address it from a comprehensive perspective that considers ethical, humanitarian and economic factors is highlighted.
