Abstract

Simón Bolívar’s thought, even in its constant contradictions and changes, contains elements that, seen today, strongly coincide with the classical German school of geopolitics. This takes on greater force when consulting Colombian authors who were inspired by the ideas of the Caracas caudillo to base their geopolitical concepts, which in turn take those of the German classics. Simón Bolívar demonstrates a great vision of the geopolitical configuration and political ideas of the future, not only in his spatial considerations, but also in his assessment of the obstacles that, according to him, Colombia would face in order to consolidate itself as the regional power that I wanted it to be. His vision, far from being limited to inspiring the authors of the countries that once made-up Gran Colombia, extended to other authors of the Latin American region, something totally consistent with the pan-Hispanic American element of his thought.
