Aim and Scope
UNAULA Journal is a scientific, academic, and cultural initiative that showcases diverse contributions emerging from the university community, society, and scientific fields. It upholds principles of plurality, diversity, equality, and solidarity, reflecting the historical essence of UNAULA as a university born during Colombia’s 1960s educational revolution. This period, marked by strikes at the University of Medellín and the University of Antioquia, led students and professors to establish UNAULA under the ideals of the Córdoba Manifesto and the transformative spirit of May 1968. These events, romanticized as the "Communists' Takeover of the Liceo Superior de Medellín," inspire the journal’s ethos. This legacy translates into a commitment to:
-
Democratizing knowledge.
-
Advancing social critique and disruptive thinking.
-
Integrating scientific, humanistic, and artistic knowledge.
The journal aligns with UNAULA’s institutional values—transparency, excellence, ethics, eco-sensitivity, and justice—and adheres to open science standards and inclusive editorial policies. It charges no article processing fees (APCs) and operates under the *Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License*.

Selection Policies
The peer review process is pedagogical, methodological, and constructivist in nature. Reviewers are external to the institution and include both national and international experts. The procedure for selecting, evaluating, and accepting articles follows a pedagogical, methodological, and constructivist framework and includes the following steps:
- Submission: The author(s) submit their article via email to the journal’s ongoing call.
- Initial Review: The Editor verifies compliance with submission requirements, including formatting, structure, and components. If all criteria are met, the article proceeds to reviewer selection; otherwise, it is returned to the author with reasons for rejection.
- Plagiarism Check: The Editor conducts a plagiarism review using Turnitin or equivalent software.
- Editorial Committee Review: The article is presented to the Editorial Committee to appoint reviewers.
- Double-Blind Peer Review: The Editor sends the manuscript to the reviewer(s), who have 15 consecutive days to complete the evaluation using a standardized form. The review is conducted under a double-blind model.
- Review Outcome: After the review period, the reviewer’s feedback and publication decision (rejected, accepted, or accepted pending revisions) are communicated to the author.
- Decision Notification: The Editor informs the author of the decision promptly.
- Revisions: If revisions are required, the Editor confirms the author’s willingness to proceed. A negative response results in rejection; a positive response grants 15 days to resubmit the revised manuscript.
- Liability: The journal assumes no responsibility for submission-related damages or loss of materials. Rejected articles are not returned; authors must retain copies.
Note: Submissions are accepted YEAR-ROUND and prioritized by submission date.
